First time mothers and daycare centers.

January 31st, 2006

My sister-in-law went back to work this week after being home with her first baby for the past 3 months. And she is a wreck, to say the least!! She gave him a bath last night and he was screaming b/c he has a really bad diaper rash. And she didn't know what to do about it so she emailed me to ask what she should do about the daycare center that he's at.

I gave her the following advice and I thought maybe you, first time mothers, might be able to gain from my sister-in-law's experience or take comfort in the fact that you are not alone.

Valentine’s present or is it?!

January 27th, 2006

There has to be one or two of you ladies out there who can relate with me with a story follows.

When you first started dating, you couldn't get enough of flowers, candies, fancy dining and even some "blings" from your significant others on Valentine's day, right?!

Then you get married and for the first few years, the bliss is still there...and you're still get showered w/all the goodies mentioned above.

And then you have kids...the universe has shifted. There is no more frivolous spending, that is if you want your kids to be fed, clothed, and attend a higher education in the future.

“Beyond body odor, a.k.a. b.b.o.”

January 27th, 2006

You must know where I got that b.b.o. phrase from...that's right, it's from one of the Seinfeld's episodes.  And do I have a story for you!!

I bought a sweater at Gap recently (it was on sale...we never buy anything full price, but that's another story for later) and when I brought it home, it reeked of B.O. in the armpits.  I almost puked!! :-(

Since the sweater was on sale and I really liked it, I decided to keep it so I put it in the washing machine.  And I hung it out to dry.  One day, I walked past it and I smelled something really foul...it turned out to be the sweater.  Apparently, washing it didn't get rid of the bad b.o, and now it has become B.B.O., beyond body odor.

Kids and their night-lights.

January 27th, 2006

Our son, Tyler who is 5, has been having nightmares at night. So every night, he wouldn't go to sleep right away. He wants the lights on so he can read, (well, more like looking), his books. We would turn off the lights only when he falls asleep.

It has been working fine until a few nights ago, he woke up in the middle of the night screaming. What I have been doing is open the shades half way to let the street lights shine in, but after alot of coaxing.

Kids say the darndest things…

January 27th, 2006

I'm just amazed of all the things that come out of Tyler's mouth, our 5 years old son. So I've collected a few to share with you. Who knows...maybe your kids have said one of the following to you:
