Valentine’s present or is it?!
There has to be one or two of you ladies out there who can relate with me with a story follows.
When you first started dating, you couldn’t get enough of flowers, candies, fancy dining and even some “blings” from your significant others on Valentine’s day, right?!
Then you get married and for the first few years, the bliss is still there…and you’re still get showered w/all the goodies mentioned above.
And then you have kids…the universe has shifted. There is no more frivolous spending, that is if you want your kids to be fed, clothed, and attend a higher education in the future.
You’re lucky if you get a card or even a verbal greeting from your spouse. This year, my husband decided to buy me a laptop (so I can do my blog), isn’t it romantic?! The gift, he said, is for “Valentine’s day, Mother’s day, your birthday, our anniversary, Xmas and if we have another baby…that would be included in it too”. WOW!! I married a Casanova philanthropist.
Well, in defense of my hubbie, he is a very generous guy. It’s me who will refuse the “blings” that he’s willing to buy me. But then again, he would say things like “yes, you’ll be wearing the kids’ education on your hand, or ears”. I know he’s saving up for the big bling for my 40th b-day. Right hubbie! I know you’re reading this. If not, then hint hint hint.
So women out there, I have one piece of advice for you…don’t refuse anything a guy is willing to buy for you while dating. Better yet, don’t wait for him to buy it for you…treat yourself while you’re still single. Once you have kids, you will feel guilty buying that nice Tiffany’s necklace or earrings or bracelets, when all you can think of is diapers, formulas, and other expenses in raising a kid.
Happy Valentine’s day!!
