Flannel is king!!

January 24th, 2006

We got our gas bill yesterday and I almost got sick looking at it…it was $375 for last month. So this month, we have been very conservative in turning on the heat and stuff.

During the day (if we’re home), we put the thermostat at 65 degrees. We turn that down to 55 degrees when we go to bed. Upstairs bedroom is on at 61 degrees. All our 3 kids’ room have panel heaters which are mounted to the wall and kid friendly. You plug it into the wall socket, buy a timer so you can program it to go on and off at a certain time, and also how often you want the heat to go on. And their rooms are nice and toasty, and everyone has flannel sheets.

Buck naked!!

January 24th, 2006

Trent woke up yesterday, but I didn’t go in to see him right away b/c he wasn’t crying or anything, so finally he called for me. I came in to find my son…buck naked!! He managed to take off his pj, an undershirt and his very very wet diaper (it’s a good thing it wasn’t poopy diaper, puke puke!!). It was a funny site to see, but I didn’t want to laugh b/c he would think that it was ok.

Eating Out

January 23rd, 2006

We took the kids to lunch at a real restaurant (not a fast food joint this time) today. We’ve learned from many many times of eating out that you should always order your food the same time with your kids’ food. In the past, we would order the kids’ food first, while they eat, we would wait for our food. So now, everyone gets his/her food the same time, it’s just chew and screw (my brother’s term) when you go out w/kids.

Family Outing

January 23rd, 2006

We had a family outing today. It’s been a long time since we went out anywhere as a family. The kids had been sick for the past months, and I was at my wit’s end waking up 2-3 times a night dealing w/fevers, pukes, and inconsolable cries.

Do you have a husband who sleeps thru anything? Or maybe you have a husband who has selective hearing? Yeah, you husbands know who you are. I find that after I gave birth, my hearing sharpened (if that’s the right term). I can hear them roll over in their bed in the middle night down the hall from my bedroom.

Theo Epstein

January 23rd, 2006

Here’s something in the news last week…what do you think about Theo Epstein returning to the Red Sox? Alright, if you live outside of Massachusetts and do not follow baseball…you might not know who Theo is (you notice that I’m on first name basis here, same thing goes w/Tom, you know #12 Brady). He was the General Manager of the Red Sox, who’s still in his early 30’s or something.

So what if I’m a fair-weather fan…this is big news people!! I’m sure more than ½ of the Red Sox Nation is fair-weather fans, but that’s O.K. As long as we all hate that evil empire, you know…the Yankees, then we are all good!! ;-)
