First pregnancy, childbirth and more!

February 28th, 2006

A friend of mine who’s pregnant with her second child asked me a bunch of questions regarding having the second baby.  I’d like to share what we talked about…who knows, you might have the same questions or concerns as my friend.

I’d like to think I’m somewhat of an “expert” in that department since I’ve been through three pregnancies of my own.  And as a result, we are blessed with three healthy and wonderful children, Tyler (5), Trent (3) and Sophia (11 months).

We would love to hear from you if you have any pregnancy, childbirth and child rearing tips of your own.

Swimming lessons at the Y…update!

February 27th, 2006

This is an update to my previous entry (Swimming lessons at the YMCA…for kids).

Tonight was our first swimming lesson and I wanted to update you on how it went.  We all know from my previous entry that Trent might have detachment issues.

So all day today, I mentioned to the boys that we are going swimming tonight and I even put on Trent’s swimming trunks so that he can get used to the idea.  He was very excited, to say the least.  The whole day, he was walking around the house saying “happy happy”!

Decluttering your house.

February 23rd, 2006

Are you a packrat or a neat freak?  I’d like to think of myself as an organizer but I hate to clean…is that an oxymoron??

I have been meaning to help my sister to declutter her closets and since yesterday was still school vacation…I decided to make a trip to her house with Tyler and Sophia (our five and 11 months old pride and joy, respectively).

The kids can play with their cousins while I help my sister, they are great babysitters and I don’t have to pay them either. ;-)  Cheapo auntie you say??!!  Hey, I’m not charging her for my “expertise” *wink*!

The art of conversation…when you’re a kid!

February 20th, 2006

If you are a parent, there is no doubt that you have many special moments in your life…and most of them involve your children.  And one of those special moments for us is listening to our children converse or try to anyway with each other and with us.

We hope that these conversations wll continue when they grow up because communication is so important to any relationships (either between parents and children or siblings to siblings), don’t you agree?

Tyler (he’s five going on 40) was trying to negotiate his toy away from Trent (he’s three and still in the terrible two stage), and this was his conversation with Trent.  All I can do is to listen in and chuckle.

Swimming lessons at the YMCA…for kids.

February 20th, 2006

I went to register our sons (Tyler’s five and Trent’s three) for swimming class this morning at the local YMCA.  It’s an eight week course starting next Monday (I’ll give you the “interesting” update afterward!).

It will definitely be interesting because Trent, eventhough he can bully Tyler any time, is afraid of strangers and anything that’s new.  And I will be watching them through a glass door holding Sophia (our 11 months old feisty girl)!

I can envision what will happen next week already and it goes something like this:

5:00 PM–car ride to the Y, Tyler’s excited and Trent’s mumbling “scared scared”!
