Bargain shopping is an art form.
As I mentioned before in my other entries, we don’t pay full price for anything (within our control of course). My philosophy is that you don’t need to spend a lot of money for that one of a kind piece of furnitures (you know you’ll be bored with it sooner or later, if the kids didn’t damage it before that) or the latest trend in fashion (it’ll be out of style next year). Â
I have to give my sister credit for teaching me how to be a bargain shopper. She has trained me to use coupons and hunt down the best in-store sales. How about this for bargain hunting…a beautiful light blue Crate & Barrel chaise and ottoman for $99 (so what if it’s a floor model, do you really want to spend over $1000 for a new chaise with 3 young kids around?).

Our favorite decorating stores are Homegoods, Marshalls, and Ikea to name a few (yes, Ikea has just opened one store in Massachusetts finally!!). We love that they carry an array of eclectic merchandise for a reasonable price.Â
My decorating style is that I don’t want to have the same thing everyone has. See those curtains above, I made them with beautiful silk fabrics on sale at Fabric Place for around $200 for 6 panels.Â
Recently, my sister showed me a Restoration Hardware catalog, and they had something similar to my curtains for $149.99-$169.99 per panel. Can you believe that?!! And mine is one of a kind. ;-) And you’re saying…I can’t sew. Well, my answer to you is: You never know until you try it out, you might have a knack for arts and crafts and not know it.Â
So happy shopping for a bargain, that is! Remember, looking good doesn’t mean spending lots!Â

[…] If you’ve read my other entry, (Bargain shopping is an art form), you’d know that we don’t pay full price for almost anything, especially when it comes to kids. And why should anyone (unless you have the disposable income to do so) when kids grow out of things very fast, AND they get bored with things very easily!! […]
