Nesting and pregnancy.
Did you experience nesting during your pregnancy? Nesting happens around the 5th month of pregnancy. It’s an uncontrollable urge to clean your house, or tie up loose ends to prepare for the arrival of your bundle of joy.Â
With my first pregnancy…I was waiting for this “urge”, or should I say my husband more than me, to come but it never did. All I did was sitting on my fat 44 lbs butt (that’s how much I gained), and eat Big Macs (yuck!!). So, nesting doesn’t happen to every pregnant woman.
But when I was pregnant the second and third time, it was different. I was cleaning almost every day starting from the 5th month. The food pantry was organized, the clothes closets were arranged by colors, and by type of garments. You can eat off of the floor because it was so cleaned. And I was on the go constantly.Â
I think that this nesting period really helped me deliver much faster than the first time around because I was so active. With Trent, our second child, I gave birth within 22 minutes.Â
We didn’t have time to park the car in the garage, my husband parked in front of the Emergency entrance, we came in…had the baby and he went out to park the car, all in 22 minutes. It was really comical. It was like a “drive through” birth (oooh, I can add this to my “Drive through are a Mother’s bestfriend” entry). And no epidural!! (Yikes!)
Same thing with Sophia, our third child, it was like three pushes and again…no epidural (my husband called me “the bull” for being so tough, nice huh?!).
So, no matter if nesting does or doesn’t come to you, enjoy your pregnancy and don’t fret if the house is a mess. That’s what husbands are there for.Â
