Proud moments as a Mom.
To me, raising children is almost like reading a great big novel, you don’t know what to expect and you can’t seem to put it down. It’s also by trial and error. Once you think you almost got it right, something always turns up and throws you for a loop. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the whole world.Â
We’ve acquired our child rearing techniques from our parents, peers and even self help books. The saying goes “it takes a whole village to raise a child” and it’s so true. It is our job as parents to build a solid foundation emotionally and mentally for our children.Â
We proudly watched our children interact with each other (when they play civilly) or with their friends, using all that we have taught them. I’d like to share some quotes from our five years old son, Tyler, speaking to his three years old brother Trent.Â
- On being thoughtful “I don’t think we should go over Chloe’s house Mommy because Trent is still sick. She might get his germs.”
- On being polite “Thank you for inviting me to the party!”
- On being sensible “Can you buy Trent this toy, I know he would love it!”
- On being affectionate “I love you this much Mommy!” Tyler streched out his arms as wide as he could to show his affection, and my heart melts.
- On being helpful “Stand still Trent, let me feed you!” When Trent refuses to drink his milk.
- On being respectful, writer’s block…but you bet being respectful is very important to us.
- On being humorous, “Mommy, you’re a pickle (chomp, chomp, chomp, making a chomping sound)…because you’re wearing green!”
And so, it goes on and on. If all fail, the best you can do is to raise a happy and healthy child!Â
