Parenting quick tips and ideas.
A friend of mine was telling me that her 19 months old daughter loves to strip down to nothing during her sleep, I call it the exhibitionist stage. My 3 years old son, Trent, loves to do that any chance he gets (read my “Buck Naked” entry).Â
I told her the only way I can stop this is to put his pajamas on backward, only the ones with the zippers and not snaps, because the little rascal managed to unsnap his pajamas many times.Â
My friend couldn’t wait to try it on her daughter, when she did…it worked like a charm and she was so excited that she suggested I send this idea into PARENTING magazine.Â
So that got me thinking, I should compile a list of “tricks”, ideas or tips that us Mothers/Fathers used in our every day lives to share with you.Â
Who knows, you might be aware of them already, that’s great! But if you have other ideas that you don’t see here…please feel free to share them with us! ;-)Â
- To prevent unwanted stripping…put kids’ zippered pajamas on backward, if you can’t find pajamas with zippers, buy the ones with the feet and cut off the feet (trust me…it’s worth the investment. You don’t want to have to clean up unwanted “mess”.)
- To remove any stubborn stains, like pukes, milk, or pooping stain *ugh!*, I would invest in a Steam Wizard from Sharper Image. I can’t tell you how many times we have used it our house. And with some Baking soda, it will get any stains or smells off.
- If your child has bloody noses during the night, like my son does, use a Q-tip to put some Vaseline in both nostrils to moisten the inside of your nose. And using a humidifier for the bedrooms in the winter will help prevent bloody noses too.
- After your baby is born, there are some websites that are worth registering for coupons. And some will send you a month by month chart of how your baby is growing. www.gerber.com, www.enfamil.com, www.similac.com, www.pampers.com, www.huggies.com, www.beechnut.com, just to name a few.
- If your baby has really bad Eczema (first check with your pediatrician for recommendation), one of the products that has worked for us is called Hydrolatum.  This product can be purchased at the Pharmacy.
- If you’ve moved to a new town, subscribe to the town’s newspaper for the latest news and events. Check with your town’s Parks & Recreation Dept. for a list of activities for your children (from sports, cooking, piano, or chess, just to name a few).  They also offer playdates for you and your babies, it’s a great way for you to meet other Moms in town. And depending on your town’s Parks & Recreation Dept, they might also have discounted movie tickets to purchase.
- Check with your town’s library, they might have discounted tickets to the Museum of Science, or other museums. Some Children’s Museums offer discounted tickets for Friday nights. It’s a great way to entertain your whole family for less.
I will continually add more tips and ideas to this list, so check back often. If you have any tips or ideas that have worked for you and your family, please feel free to share with us.Â

Thanks for sharing your tips . Aquaphor is also a good one for Eczema. I used it for my daughter last time and it worked great ! I asked the caregiver putting it on her skin about 3 times/day .
