You’re having the…4th kid?!

May 17th, 2006

I read an article in LIFE (America’s Weekend Magazine) recently about “A New Baby Boom?” and was pleasantly surprised to find that the average American family doesn’t stop at two children any more!

Here are some statistics from the article. In a 2003 survey, 28% of all babies were born into family of two or more. That’s an increase of almost 4% since 1996 and 12% since 1984. According to the article, there are many theories behind this potential baby boom:

I’m addicted to…the blogosphere!

May 14th, 2006

If you’ve asked me 6 months ago what a blog is? I’d tell you that it sounds like a musical instrument of some kind in Europe. Or it’s an instrument for smoking the good stuff or something like that!!

I’ve been doing my blog for about 4 months now, and I have to admit that I never knew I had so much garbage (say it in a French accent people) in the cerebral or that there are people actually reading my stuff!! Tell me about it! I know!

Happy Mother’s Day!!

May 13th, 2006

Today, we celebrate you…Mothers! Now, who came up with the date, May 14 or the third Sunday, as a special day reserved for Moms?

Don’t you think we should celebrate Mother’s day every single day?! Was it some guy at the “holiday office” feeling guilty that he rarely calls or visits his own Mom and that he needed a national holiday as a reminder to do the aforementioned, you know, call or visit his Mom. Gee, are you with me here?! *exasperated sigh*

Romanian orphans.

May 11th, 2006

I was watching Nightline last night with Diane Sawyer reporting on the deplorable ways disabled orphans were/are treated in Romania. There are thousand of orphans in the many state-run institutions ranging from babies to teens in such emaciated state that it brought me to tears.

All of the children were confined to rickety metal cribs regardless of age all day with little or no human contact of any kind. The children were deathly malnourished with their sunken faces and twiglike arms and legs that could be broken in two easily.

Score! Educational centers.

If you are a parent, there is no doubt that you’d want the best for your children. For us, education is one of those “best” that we strive to provide for our children.

We were ingrained as children that education will lead you to achieve anything you aspire to be. Our parents have sacrificed a great deal in order for us to achieve our goals and dreams. And we are indebted to them for all they’ve done! ;-)

With that said, I’ve attempted to teach my 5 year old son, Tyler, Reading and Math…but I find myself lacking the patience of those home schooling Moms/Dads and Tyler ends up getting frustrated and dislike learning.
