What’s a little gluttony?!

So, what did you do this weekend? I hope you did something as much fun as we did. Beach? No, rain rain rain. Shopping? No, too much money. Road trip? No, have you seen the price of gas?! What we did was EAT, EAT, and more eating Saturday AND Sunday!!

We were invited to a graduation party on Saturday at a family friend’s house. One son graduated as valedictorian from his high school and the other son graduated from one of those Ivy league schools, you know…where they filmed “Good Will Hunting“. And as we Bostonian say Hahvad.

Yeah, tell me about it…I feel so dumb AND old being surrounded by these two smarty pants. But they had to be the nicest and very humble youths (say it like My Cousin Vinny).

Alright, when’s that eating part coming? Well, from the time we got there (4ish) to the time we left (10ish), we, I ate like a pig! Wait, let me check my snout, nose…oink oink!

The food was sooo delicious, I mean it was finger licking “grandiose”! *drooling* Granted, the host and his wife own a restaurant, but still…it was delish! Did I say that already?! Not only that, they were extremely hospitable and very nice folks.

Oh, you want to hear what I managed to stuff in my mufin-top of a belly? You might have to loosen your belt, as Ms. Piggy knows I did while driving home.

  • 1/2 a cow
  • 14 lbs of shrimps
  • 13.78 lbs of chickens
  • 2 pieces of veggies, didn’t want to stuff myself
  • 3 grapes, again…didn’t want to get too stuffed
  • 1 potato chip…too fattening
  • 1 tiny piece of cake…too rich
  • 10.5 lbs of pasta

I think that’s about it.

Fast forward to Sunday, as we rolled out of bed…still extremely stuffed and got ready for another party. This time it was our college friend’s son, who turns a big O, that’s right ONE today.

This must have been a theme this weekend, our friend’s family also owns a restaurant. *drooling again*

I didn’t need to loosen my belt this time. Thank goodness for elastic waisted pants! Again, the food and the host were both delicious and nice, respectively of course. And the baby is so adorable! Happy birthday D!
I told myself I wasn’t going to stuff myself like Saturday, so here’s what I had:

  • 7 Chilean sea bass (my 3 children loved this too and they had about 4 each, did I mention that they’re under five years old?)
  • 8.5 lbs of Peking ducks (see, told you I was cutting down)
  • 5.4 lbs of shrimps (trying to cut down on the cholesterol)
  • the other 1/2 of a cow (I’m on the Watkins diet)
  • a tiny piece of cake (got to watch my figure)

At this point, I don’t even want to know Ms. Gluttony any more. And not only that, when we got home…2 big pots of half-cooked beef stew and chicken soup (had to leave for the party) were waiting for me to finish cooking. YIKES!!
