Happy 4th!
As we celebrate this day of Independence in the U.S, I couldn’t help but reminisce about my own journey in search of freedom 26 years ago from the Communist regime of Viet Nam, which I will post later when all this gluttony subsides.
Today is a day I give thanks to all the service men and women who have bravely fought for our country, the U.S.A. It’s a great country that has welcomed my family and me 26 years ago. A country with vast opportunities and freedom, it’s a country I can proudly say “home sweet home” having lived through oppresion and lack of freedom.
Regardless of how I feel about George Bush’s policy on the current war in Iraq, it would be a disservice for not acknowledging my gratitude to all the brave and selfless service men and women who are fighting in Iraq currently, and also to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers and their families.
May there be peace and independence in Iraq soon and our service men and women be safely home.
