It seriously irritates me that, when I'm trying to get my kids to eat supper or into bed, that someone calls and asks for money. First of all, we don't have that much. I have, on occasion, told the person working for whatever charity, that we actually qualify for their benefits. Not sure if we do or not, but that usually shuts them up. Anyway, we donate locally, to our church, the local food bank, etc. I'm wary of random people calling to ask for money for orgs I haven't heard of, but sound similar to established orgs. Doesn't make it right, though. I always tell those people that it's my policy to not conduct business over the phone and to send me something in the mail. I just quit answering the phone. If you're calling for donations should you really turn down any amount that someone is offering you? Kudos to you for donating, I personally ingnore the phone and save the moolah for our church and the Red Cross, oh and Saint Jude, because that commercial rips my heart out every time.
