How do you like your eggs cooked

The temperature has been in the high 90’s but it feels more like 110 degrees without the breeze. But who am I to complain after so much rain lately.

This week, we have three little visitors to our humble abode to keep us company while the hubbie travels…AGAIN! They are my nephew (12) and two nieces (8,7), so there are six kids under my care. NO! I’m not opening a daycare nor I’m practicing to have six kids! As my hubbie foolishly insinuated! Yah right, crazy nut! The only way he’d have six kids is with another woman (over my dead body!), or his next life (maybe he’ll be a woman and let’s see if he’ll have six then, hee).

Have you ever tried to entertain six little people before? Well, let me tell you…it ain’t easy. One kid would want to do A, while the rest wants to do X,K and D. I’m a somewhat patient crazy person, did I tell you I took all six kids out to eat. Well, let me boast that I was stopped by one patron who complimented on how “well behaved the children are!” Grinning from ears to ears, and patting myself in the back for about five minutes and then…gotta go, meltdown time coming on in about, five.four.three.two.one.Blast.Off.

It’s funny how people’s reactions ranged from incredulous looks to “is she nuts” looks to pure admiration looks when they saw me and the six children. I’d prefer the latter thank you very much. I think one lady’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

But anyway, let’s get back to what this post is really about. An experiment that I’ve always wanted to test out when the asphalt is sweltering hot!

This is our experiment. Since eggs are on sale this week for 69 cents, I don’t feel bad wasting an egg for our somewhat useless educational distraction experiment.

After half an hour, the egg looked like this. It seemed that the egg white sort of vaporized, and the yolk’s surface hardened but the inside was still runny, like a sunny-side up without the clouds.

So what have we learned kids? Even though the asphalt is too hot to go barefeet, it’s still not hot enough to cook an egg. And that auntie needs to find other more interesting games to entertain us.

Here are five of the rascals trying to fill up the water balloons. The littlest one of the bunch, Sophia, was too busy eating…AGAIN!

PS: After this entry was written, I found this and couldn’t believe that there are other nutty enquiring people out there who have way too much time on their hands like me.

6 kids? By yourself? For a week? Wow, I am very impressed. And I love the fact that you tested out the egg idea. Do you think it would have fried if you scrambled it? Just wondering…

Cudos to you for trying something different.

Thanks for testing this out. Now I can scratch that one off my list of things I was going to do this week.

MD- Since eggs are on sale this week, we might have to try it fried next time. I’m so glad to have all these little helpers around the house, our house has never been cleaner. WHAT?! It’s never too early to start doing chores. Oh, gotta go…they miss a spot on the silverwares they’re currently polishing. }:)
