Locks of Love

August 20th, 2006

My parents have taught us to be charitable ever since we were little. They are truly believers in “giving back” to society, no matter how large or small the donations might be.

My Dad has volunteered as a Treasurer (and other tasks) for the local Buddhist Temple for over ten years, and my Mom has also been involved with the same temple for the same amount of time. But that is just one aspect of their charity work.

“Rescue Me” Dennis Leary

August 16th, 2006

Are there any Rescue Me fans out there? This show is shown every Tuesday @ 10PM EST on FX. My hubbie and I are addicted to this show and anything that Dennis Leary has been involved in, in the past. I probably won’t be doing justice in describing what Rescue Me is about but to put it simply, it’s a show involving New York Engine 62 and its firefighters (post 9/11) whose lives touch on every single taboo subjects that leave me cringing, jaw dropping and eye popping while glued to the tube every Tuesday night.

“He’s talking crazy Mommy”

August 15th, 2006

Today is Pass The Torch Tuesday, each week we celebrate a child who demonstrates the ability to being helpful, responsible, good, smart or all around a great kid. If you’d like to participate, head over to Kelly and get the banner code. We hope to hear stories from you and how a child has been empowered in your everyday life.

Yesterday, Tyler (my five-year-old-going-on-forty son) was playing with a neighbor’s son in the yard. They played all kinds of games, chasing each other around, hitting some balls, discussing their Bionicles and Star Wars toys. Until it was time for the boy to go home for dinner.

Rotisserie chicken anyone

August 13th, 2006

I’m totally burnt to a crisp and looking like a lobster from seven hours at Wingaersheek beach today. The kids built sand castles, splashed in the cccccold water (only 78 degrees), chased seagulls, ate and drank from an overpacked cooler that I proudly prepared the night before. But we (my sisters and I) sure had a good laugh every time the mention of that “cornucopia” cooler, and its content, comes up in conversations.

My little Mr. “Project Runway”

August 9th, 2006

As I was watching “Project Runway” tonight, (I’m watching for the fashion/designs, not the bickering, the b!itching *really*, and certainly not the annoying “auf Wiedersehen!” Heidi Klum, although my hubbie begs the differ, about Heidi that is!) *stop drooling Arthur!*, it reminds me of what my little Ralph Lauren did the other day.

Tyler saw this shirt, as I was putting it away from the 102nd load of laundry the other day, and said “that’s cute Mommy!” How’s that for a compliment, after that never-ending-mountain of laundry, from your five year-old son?! AHHHH!!!
