Sometimes you don’t think they hear you, oh but they do loud and clear

Being a Mom, sometimes I don’t think my “preaching” reaches through to my children’s stubborn heads, but oh they do (to my surprise). As in the following conversations this morning.

I asked Tyler if he wanted to buy lunch today at school.

Tyler exclaimed loudly “No” (he’d prefer a packed lunch instead)

I said “it’s hotdog day” (I know it’s one of those rare moments that this Mom will be all loosey goosey like that! So it’s in your best interest to jump at the chance.)

Tyler replied in such matter-of-factly “no, it’s not good for me!”

I was all gigly inside beaming with pride that my children know what’s good for them finally…this time!!

And this was Trent’s conversation to himself at 9ish this morning.

Trent “Mommy, can I have candies?”

Trent replied to himself “No? Why? It’s bad for you, ok!”

And then he continues playing and talking to himself. So, six years of nagging and preaching did work this time. But I just hope they won’t be traumatized when they grow up, and binging on hot dogs or candies. Or maybe they’ll be like this guy here. The world champion hot dog eater Takeru Kobayashi.

This makes me hungry, gotta get me some hot dogs for lunch! Have a great weekend folks!

Not only do they listen, they somehow know when and how to use your preaching against you!

Keep on your toes.

Unfornately they do listen all the time. My 4-year-old recently said a rather colorful expression (by the way she used it, it was obvious she had no clue what she was saying). I just looked at my husband. You know the look.

After watching this on tv once, I couldn’t eat a hotdog again. LOL!

Ohhh…
We were rushing to a new dentist… Didn’t know the neighbourhood but knew there was a MAcDonald’s at the subway stop,I turned to my daughter and said, “How ’bout McDonald’s?”
May also preface that she has been there once this year and we are now into September… I think a pretty good record don’t you?Anyway i digress…
She gave the same line as your son, except that she would rather starve than go to MAcDonald’s because it is sooooo bad for you…
When we got to the dentist office she told him that I tried to FORCE MacDonald’s on her….

Yes. I’ve noticed that they listen even when you think they aren’t. This is both positive and negative. Usually negative. I think.

How funny!

Just this afternoon my nearly three-year-old son grabbed a carrot and said to himself “Carrots are my friends”!

I got suckered into taking my son to the pediatrician to get his hearing checked because I thought there was something wrong. No, turns out he was just ignoring me. Hearing’s fine, thanks.

Good job! Your kids are certainly listening.

Q chowed down on a hotdog today, and I totally though of the picture you posted of the champion eater.
