Love of broccolis

November 29th, 2006

Love is seeing your 20 month-old Sophia enjoying broccolis like it was a sweet treat. She would chomp on the top first and then work her way down towards the stem, and in one whoosh…the whole broccoli is gone. And out comes her little hand asking for more.

How can a mother not like that?! Don’t believe me? Check out how she has her mouthful with that wonderfully-good-for-you green stuff.

I guess I can take credit for her love of broccolis. I can eat a bowlful of steamed broccolis just by itself over a bowlful of chocolates any day. Yes, you read that right…CHOCOLATES. I hear the gasping out there in the blogosphere. I’m freakish that way, didn’t you know that already?!

Thanksgiving weekend recap

November 26th, 2006

How was your Thanksgiving weekend? Hope you had lots of fun with family and friends, consumed lots of grub and booz. Here's a recap of how we spent Thanksgiving as written in the form of the popular "priceless" Visa commercial.

Total travel time from Mass. to NJ and back: 10 hours and 30 minutes in bumper-to-bumper traffic (usual time it takes is around 8 hours), not to mention the heavy treacherous rain on the way there.

Time it took for the first "are we there yet?": 22 minutes into the trip and counting.

For the 312th time, WE ARE NOT THERE YET

By this time tomorrow, our loser's cruiser will be stuffed with clothes packed for five, toys for three, enough food/snacks to feed the whole daycare center of 50 kids, including teachers.

We are heading, in the heavy rain (yup, that's the weather prediction for Thanksgiving day around this part of the country folks), to NJ to visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving. That's a 4-hour trip with three kids in the slow treacherous rain, so let's make that 5 to 6 hours then. Yippee!! Can you see how excited I am?!

Pain in the neck

November 19th, 2006

Well, I wish I could say that this terrible neck pain was a result of going to the movies this past weekend (as indicated by the cartoon above). But nope, no such luck. Have to wait until 12/9 for a date (I'm counting down the days like a prisoner crossing off the days of his/her sentence, I know...how pathetic huh?!) with the hubbie to see him.

I woke up at 5:30ish this morning and WAS.NOT.ABLE.TO.MOVE!! I mean, the pain was excrutiating! It felt like someone stuck really really long needles on the side of my neck and my head. Like a bad case of acupuncture, not that I've ever been to an acupuncture session before. Uh, needles = pain, lots of it people.

Love me some pick-up lines

(For those of you not familiar with the skunk above, his name is Pepé Le Pew. This French skunk is always on the prowl looking for "l'amour". His aggressive and intrusive seduction style always turn off his conquests, not to mention his foul odor that would turn off any possible love interests. With that said, he fits right in with this post.)

My oldest sister commutes via the train/bus to work daily. It's so much more convenient, less expensive and less of a headache dealing with bumper-to-bumper traffic when you live in a busy cosmopolitan city.
