The Hungry Detective, I want your job
If you’ve been visiting this humble blog thus far, you’d know that I’m pretty much a couch potato, I love me some tv after the kids are off to dreamland, that’s when my clicker and I have our date.
After catching up on my taped shows on the DVR and there’s nothing else to watch, I’d turn to my other favorite channel…Food Network. There’s a new show calls The Hungry Detective at 10:30 EST and let me tell ya, I want his job.

Chris Cognac, the host, is a police detective from L.A. by day and a food critic by night. His mission on the show is to find hidden gem of restaurants only the locals know.
He visited New York city for tonight’s show and found some great restaurants and eateries. Well folks, I need a new keyboard! I accidentally drool all over the keyboard while watching Chris sampled the best pizzas, I mean they buy this block of $1000 cheese straight from Italy, and the pie is not dredged in sauce. Simply crunchy and delish!
Next is a burger joint by Central Park with a long line of devoted fans where he had a three-decker burger that’s cooked to order, two patties of freshly ground beef with a portabella patty. This is a guy who knows burgers from his day job as a police detective and this was the best burger he’s ever tasted. YUUUUMMMMYYYY, that’s all I can say!
He went on to sample the best pancakes around Columbia University; a three-course prix fixe meal of filet mignon, crispy iceburg lettuce with bacon and blue cheese dressing and creme brule for only $29; juicy and finger licking good b-b-q meats that serve fried rice with leftover meats under one roof.
Chris, I want your job! I mean what do you need to be qualified for this position. You have to love food…check. You have to be able to talk to strangers…check. Be willing to travel any where…uh uncheck. Well, can I take my kids and hubbie along for the ride, please?
Now I’m hungry. Got to go. Need to rummage the fridge and pantry for something good to eat. This is not good for my muffin top by the way. And you? Do you have a favorite food show or you’re doing something more productive than frying your braincells with more tv watching?

And now I’m hungry, after feeling stuffed at dinner.
I think I need to check out this show!
I’ll have you know that this show tonight ALMOST made me late for work! I had to be here at 11 p.m, so I missed the tail end of it. LOL! I love food network. After my girls go to sleep is also when I have my “date with the clicker” hehehe I love your blog
BTW would you mind if I added you to my favorites list?
Samantha~Well, you’ve made my day! But of course, I’d be honor to be listed on your favorite list. Thanks for visiting my humble blog, pull up a chair and we’ll watch this Hungry Detective together. But I can’t let you touch my clicker though.
Mmmm…. those do sound good, however, just think if you did have his job, how much more we’d actually weigh?
I do must say the hamburg with portabella sounds super delich though!
If you like that show, Betty, I think you’ll love this blog called “The Hungry Cabbie.” It’s written by a guy who is eating his way around NYC. He’s so popular that sometimes people book his cab so that he can give them tours of amazing foods around NYC. Check it out.

man, the food network has ruined so many New Year’s Resolutions..
Okay, now I’m drooling.
I want one of those pizzas!
MetroDad~Thanks for the recommendation on another blog for me to read. I might have to visit NYC to meet this cabbie since I love to eat!
I’ve wanted to be a food taster as well but I think if I had that job, I’d be as big as a whale. I think you need to have finished HRIM as a course or just be plain lucky.
Sigh …
I’m all drooly now…sigh.
Love your blog write up of my show….so glad you liked it, we work really hard to make it the best we can….if you liked the burger in NYC..wait till next week for the shrimp!
Chris Cognac
Dang!!
I want his job too!
Wow, now that IS a good job! (p.s. I’m totally hungry now.)
Yummy!! All of that sounded so good.
I wonder how people have jobs like this keep their weight under control!!
I’ve heard about this show, but never have seen it. I’ll have to take your deliciously-decribed word about this one!
We don’t even have cable (because we are CHEAP) but now I’m hungry.
We don’t have cable so I’ll have to take your word for it.
I’ve heard that the Food Network is quite popular with the 4-5 year olds as well.
I’ve got some behind-the-scenes footage on my blog (http://www.gentlemangourmand.com) from working as a production assistant/guest on the show.
Enjoy!
