For the 312th time, WE ARE NOT THERE YET

By this time tomorrow, our loser’s cruiser will be stuffed with clothes packed for five, toys for three, enough food/snacks to feed the whole daycare center of 50 kids, including teachers.
We are heading, in the heavy rain (yup, that’s the weather prediction for Thanksgiving day around this part of the country folks), to NJ to visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving. That’s a 4-hour trip with three kids in the slow treacherous rain, so let’s make that 5 to 6 hours then. Yippee!! Can you see how excited I am?!
As much as I gripe about the actual car trip, I’m looking forward to this mini getaway. The kids haven’t seen their paternal grandparents and their cousins for a while, my hubbie will be pampered by his mama who will make his favorite Korean dishes, there’s no cooking or cleaning (well, except doing the dishes) for me, so it’s a win-win situation all around.
With that said, there are a lot of things that I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving.
I’m thankful for my wonderful “saintly” of a hubbie, who has been my better half throughout our nine years of marriage. Here’s to many more blissful years together!!
I’m thankful for my three wonderfully adorable children who have taught me patience and infinite love. May the sun shines on your path of life always. And your lives be filled with happiness and good health. There’s nothing else this mama can ask for except to call me and Dad often, and don’t move away from us too far.
I’m thankful for my parents. I wish you continued good health and longevity Mom and Dad. Thanks for all you’ve done for your five children and your grandchildren thus far. Your selflessness and always putting others’ well-being above your needs are a good life lesson for all of us to learn from.
I’m thankful for my close-knitted siblings. I know we have our differences and sometimes we want to wring each other’s necks, but at the end of the day…you’re the ones I call to chat about anything, even if we repeat ourselves more than once during the numerous conversations.
I’m thankful for my relatives and friends near and far. I look forward to our next reunion!!
And last but not least, regardless of how I feel about the war in Iraq, I’m thankful for the many brave service men and women serving in Iraq and other countries. May you be safe and will be returning to your loved ones very soon.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone from our family to yours!! Gobble gobble gobble!

I’m with MotR. No cooking and cleaing sounds pretty tempting. But the driving in the rain part…that’s rough. Have a safe trip and try to enjoy yourself!
