Happy Blogniversary and name that baby contest
In case this post is too long for you, just skip to the end for the “Name that baby” contest.
Today is my one year blogniversary! Can you believe I’ve lasted this long? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. I can still remember vividly my crazy hubbie suggesting I started a blog. A whaaat?! Was he suggesting that I start exercising or something?
After explaining in details what a blog was, he said I can write tips on pregnancy, child births and child rearing. Uh, hello…I’m not a writer, I told him. But he convinced me to put my two cents somewhere else besides his ears. So here I am, after one year and loving it even if my family asks me “don’t you have something better to do” most of the time.
I’m absolutely in awe of this wonderful blogland and the many talented bloggers one year ago and still to this day. I couldn’t believe there were SAHM/D’s and working parents who I can relate to in their parenting style, their fears and worries, and even their sense of humor. And I’ve learned a lot thanks to you all. So without further adieu, allow me to give a shout out and spread some luuuv to the many bloggers that I’ve “met” during this past year.
If we happen to visit your city, or country…we’d hope you won’t turn out the lights and bolt the door pretending no one’s home. Right? Really, I’m not a stalker. You’re welcome to break bread with us any time if you’re on our turf. Like the saying goes “mi casa es su casa”!
This list is not in any particular order, and if I forget to mention any bloggers who’s nice enough to visit mine, please forgive me and I’m blaming that on the “preggo brain” and two very sick and clingy kids, one to my left and one to my right. Also, there’s a contest at the end of this post, I hope you’ll participate.

Thanks to Irene for letting me know the “ins and outs” of blogging. I’m so envious of you for living in France. We’ll definitely call you up if we’re lucky to visit Paris any time in the future. I know you’ll be waiting by the phone, right?!
Through Irene’s blog, I found Pierre and I was laughing the first time I read his blog and I still do today. He’s a very talented and hilarious writer who takes pride in his love of proper grammar. Just take it easy on my grammar errors, okay?
Thanks to Izzy for designing this awesome blog. I love your designing work and also your blog. I laugh, cry, nod my head in agreement to what she has to say on her blog. And she’s a hottie too.
If I find myself in Minnesota, I’d love to hear Jeff plays in his band and meet his awesome wife and children, one of whom (Austin, 14) is actually on the Parks & Recreation department trying to build a skating park for his city. Austin has actually been featured on “ABC Person of the Week”.
Since I’m in MN, I’ll stop by to visit Heather and her two adorable children. She makes me laugh with her children’s stories every week.
I’m so jealous of Kailani who lives in Hawaii and gets to go to Mauii any time she wants, one of our favorite places to visit. She’s not only a creative writer, she’s also a flight attendant and her two little girls are absolutely adorable!
Andie and I both have a daughter named Sophia, and she gets to live in sunny Arizona. I’ve had the pleasure to IM her the other week and it was really nice. I think she was like “who’s this again?!”
Nicole is moving to NC where her doctor hubbie will be doing his residency, if I ever had the chance to visit my uncle, I’ll be sure to look you up either you like it or not Nicole.
I couldn’t believe when Jessica replied back to my comment in Vietnamese that she can speak a bit of it. She and her hubbie had travelled throughout Asia and I was just happy somebody else speaks my language besides my family. She’s one hot mama with a very witty sense of humor.
Kelly is my inspiration to be a better mother. She empowers kids by giving them a voice and hosting the “Pass The Torch award” every Tuesdays of their “good deeds”.
I never knew somebody else who loves KFC more than I do. Tony is a very talented artist and he works for some cool company in L.A., who knows…he might be working for Dreamworks making cool movies like Shrek or something like that.
While I’m in California, I’d like to stop by and say hello to Marsha, she is a very talented and eloquent of a writer. Her writing makes me laugh all the time and I look forward to her new posts every week. And her two daughters are beautiful!
Mandy is a homeschooling Mom of two very cute girls in San Diego, one of our favorite places to visit. I love hearing stories of her girls’ outings to places that we visited last April, like a tour at Legoland!
Mrs. Chicky is my homie, she lives in Western Mass. If I ever had a dog, I’d definitely want her to train him/her. She is thinking of opening up her dog grooming business, and I say she’ll be great at it!!
Michelle lives in Alaska with her four children, and I call her my “Martha Stewart” (in a good way). She’s so crafty and creative. I actually “copied” a few ideas from her. And she has some great stories of her ancestors too, it’s like reading a novel.
Speaking of novels, Catherine will soon have a published novel of her own and I can’t wait to read it. She also has four children and I’ll be asking her for advice on how to deal with FOUR!
Amanda is a very talented artist and her family also grows and harvests grapes in Texas. It’s really refreshing to hear stories of her family harvesting grapes and selling it to the market. Her daughter is a mirror image of her beautiful Mom.
I’ll absolutely bow down to Bonnie who has three girls and a hubbie who is a fire fighter. She often takes the children on camping trips BY HERSELF when the hubbie was out fighting fires for a long period of time. Camping with three children folks BY HERSELF!!
Dennis cracks me up with his stories of his imps.children and wife. I’ve enjoyed learning how the daddy bloggers deal with family life and children. He’s like a sitcom that I love to watch.
Besides from a working Mom, Lady M also directs a vintage ballroom dance troupe. I would love to get a dancing lesson from her. She also takes beautiful photos of her adorable son Q.
I recently got to know doctor KC via Marsha, and she’s one hot doc! Her writing is so witty and smart, I mean she is a doctor after all. It’s like watching an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” through her writing. I wonder which character she’ll play on the show, but then again why would she need to play one when she is one already!!
I thought having 3.5 children is a lot of work, but let me introduce you to a super Mom of five and who is waiting on two adopted babies from Ethiopia. Pastormac’s Ann is also a homeschooling SAHM. I’m so not worthy!
From across the sea, I had the pleasure to “meet” Kay in the Philippines. I drool every time she posts pictures of her native food or fruits, it reminds me of my childhood growing up in Viet Nam. I’d love to visit the Philippines some day.
The hilarious Anne with all her screws in her cheek and all. Yeah, you have to visit her to see what I mean. I was hooked on her blog after she described eloquently the day in the life of the stinky diaper genie. Now that’s a talented writer!
When I stumbled upon Pendullum via another blogger’s site, I was absolutely hooked by her story of her best friend who has passed away. It was as if I was reading a book and couldn’t put it down. Glad to have found you Pendullum.
I’m so amazed at the different bloggers who visit my blog, I mean I’m flattered when SueBob visits and even leaves me a comment. She’s comfortable discussing politics and her view, when all I talk about is KFC and my food cravings. And who doesn’t love the name “Red Stapler”, it reminds me of my favorite cult movie “Office Space”.
Allow me to give a shout out to my Canadian blogger friends, the famous Catherine, the movie-book-loving Ali, and the soon-to-be mother of two Marz.
Simply Schatzi has four beautiful children and she is a very hard working Mom. I enjoy reading about her children’s lives and interactions with one another.
Teresa’s twin boys remind me of my son Trent. I can sure relate to the temper tantrums but that’s not what they are all about. They are very adorable and very patience when they attend their older sister’s cheer leading competitions.
Forgive me if I’ve forgotten anyone. I hope I’ll be able to continue with this gig a bit longer, until I either have nothing else to talk about or my children hides the laptop from me.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?
As you know, we are expecting our third baby boy and we are in search of names. His older brothers are named Tyler and Trent and I wanted to stay with another “t” name but I haven’t found anything that I we like, so I’m asking you folks for suggestions. I prefer names that are different and unique, but nothing weird like Wolfgang or Apple or Banana.
What’s in it for you? Well, how about the bragging right that our son is named after your suggestion? No? OK, how about a $25 USD gift card to Amazon.com. That’s all I can afford yo since diapers, wipes and college funds are purdy expensive. So, I hope you’ll participate and I’m looking forward to picking out a name for our next pride and joy. Deadline will be 2/14, just in time for Valentine’s.
Edited to add: I should clarify that I’m looking for other names that don’t necessary have to start with “t”. So let your imagine goes wild.

Congrats on your first blogaversary! Thanks for the shout-out!
T names eh?
What about Tristan?
Thomas?
Teagan?
I was so glad our last baby was a girl because we were having a horrible time with boy names.
Here’s a few we batted back and forth:
Owen
Liam
Aidan
Conor
And I’m really partial to Duncan.
Hmm. Very Celtic list I have going there….
Betty: Although I have not read you for your entire year - Happy Blogniversary!! I do truly try and read you every day!
We here at the Playground do thank you for your support!
Names: Truly a difficult task. We went back and forth with our son three years ago. So I guess I am partial to :
Dennis - (eh? eh? why not??? LOL)
Torin (or Toryn)
Scot
Galen
Congratulations on your blogoversary and thanks for the shout-out! It’s been a pleasure getting to know you.
Some friends recently named their son Devin, which is a nice name. I prefer the spelling Devon though.
Betty, our house is always open to you and your family! And our new one is big enough that guests don’t have to sleep in the bathtub! Definitely let us know if you are ever coming to DC.
I love having found you too- you are such a sweet, sincere, genuine person filled with love and, joy. A very happy blogoversary to you.
And names? JP and I haven’t found very many boys names we like - I tend to go for classic names- Luke, Alexander, Daniel. Or for T’s, Tobey, Travis, Truman. And you can always go initials like Thomas James, to be called TJ….
Following the “T” trend, Trevor, Tolin and Trace. Off that track, Christian, Jaden, Jace or Brayden.
Happy Blog Anniversary! What a lovely tribute to all the blog friends!
On the name front… Trevor?
Thanks so much, you’re a sweetheart.
As for names, I know this isn’t a T-one but I always swore if we had another boy I’d name him Heath. So manly, so Scottish (which husband’s family is) and so cool-yet-different.
But if you’re looking for T names only, maybe Thomas or Terrence.
great post! happy blogiversary.
i probably would be of no use. i like mainstream names. like joshua and nathan and ryan and ethan
Happy blogiversary! Waya to go!
About names … Riley, Jackson, Cade. Most of the names I’m partial to are Italian, so unless you’re interested in Dominic, Matteo, Treviso, Nicolai, Dante, or Vincenzo, I’m not much help!
Happy Blogniversary!
I have the PERFECT name–
ready?
O.k.- cause it’s really, really good.
I mean really good.
You’re going to love it and so are his future friends
and his future spouse…(jumping around)
Can’t wait - Sanders (you can call him colonel for short)
Oh my gosh - what a fantastic post! You must have spent hours putting this one together. Congratulations on your anniversary. This is a big day indeed!!!
KC~That was the nicest thing to say about moi!! I’m blushing!! My sisters would disagree with you though.
Tony~YOU ARE HILARIOUS!! I wouldn’t expect anything else from you. Who knows, you might just win the award for being so original.
Jeff~Yeah, this sure took me a long time to write since there were a lot of linkages, plus two very sick and clingy kids.
Happy Happy Blogversary to you Ms. Betty…
I am so complimented by being part on your blogger list… Actually, that is the wrong word… Honored…Would be the correct word I am looking for…
And as for a name…
How about
Tryfon,?
Thomas,?
Timothy?
Toby?
Tobias?
I can not think of any good T names… But I solike the ideaofkeeping the ‘T’ tradition…
Happy BlogAnniversary! A whole year, I think I am coming up on a year myself. Hmmmm.
As for “T” names, let’s see, you already used my fav, Trent!, so what else do I have for you? I love….
Hunter
Jackson
Garrison
Harrison (I LOVE this one)
Issac (that’s my Connor’s middle name)
Cameron
Grant
Whoops, no T names in there…Geez…T names are hard….
What I love so much about your blog is how you connect to your readers. We all consider you a friend, and you are welcome to visit us anytime you are in town. Now, I have a whole new list of bloggers whose sites I will need to visit and check out.
I like Trevor, I think it would go well with your other two son’s names. Trey is kinda unusual and different and would go well. If I had had a boy, I would of named him Ian, I just love that name! When I was much younger I always thought Dartanion was a great name, I know, I know, I was much younger then!
Taylor maybe? If I had a boy I would have named him Trent. Great name!
Congrats on your blog anniversary!
Betty…
Could you post links to all these people in your bloggershere…I know who Marsha is…She rocks! As do her gals…
I know who the great Andie is as well as marvellous Izzy… And the truly amazing Catherine… and cheeky Mrs.Chicky… and of Course Queen of Blogland Ms Jessica…
I wanna find Irene, Tony, Pierre, Jeff, Schatzi and all the rest… They all seem so truly wonderful that I would love to read their blogs…
Awww, thank you for mentioning me in your list! Seriously, what an honor!
Before I forget, happy blogiversary! I’m so glad to have blog-met you, Betty. It was fun reading through this list. What a terrific idea for an anniversary post.
Now onto the name game! I like Tristan, as I’ve mentioned before. But also Todd. And Tanner. And I had a HUGE crush on a guy named Taaron.
Thaddeus, Timothy, Trace, Tam, Theo,
Christopher, Andrew, ( I just adore Christopher)
Lucas
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John
Noah
Tobias
Ok, this is fun!
Happy Happy Blog-iversary! And thanks so much for the shout-out. I always enjoying stopping by for a chat.
Names: I love the name Travis (it’s my brother’s name) and another T names has a good ring to it along with the first two.
How about Chase (because certainly you’ll be doing alot of that!) or Chance?
All my guys have J names (with D names for middle names).
Good luck. Can’t wait to hear what you decide.
Oh! Thank you so much for your sweet acknowledgment! I’m so flattered to be amongst those you count as friends : )
For T names, how about Travis, Taylor, or Trevor? I didn’t check to see if anyone already used these for forgive me in advance if they have.
I’ve tagged you for a “weird” meme. Check out my blog for details.
Aww.. Girlie! Happy Blogniversary! You said alot of sweet things! And just so you know.. Anytime you come to WA, y’all are more than welcome at our crib!
Boy names!!! I love the name Trevon (Darius middle name). With him being boy #3, you can call him Tre.
Taylor, Tucker.
I really like the name Payton or Peyton for a boy too!! I’m gonna have to think a bit more!
1. Happy Blogiversary!
2. Dooood, we live east of Worcester (Wistah, heh). That is not WESTERN MA. You people that live within 128 are killing me.
3. Aww, I’d totally train your dog if you had one… for half price.
(hey, you said I lived in Western MA. Turnaround is fair play.)
4. Thomas or Timothy. Definitely.
awwww, thank you so much! and happy bloganniversary!
as for the names with a T, I think I like Tristan the best (as well as Oliver, Sebastian, Jamie, argh so many!)
the most popular French names starting with a T in France are Theo and Thibault (pronounce bee-bo).
ok, Thibault is prounounced tee-bo, not bee-bo. sorry
Awww … you just warmed my heart big time. I hope that you do get to visit the Philippines when everything settles here coz we really do have the most beautiful beaches and exotic places. Lots of history for the kids too.
As for the baby name … hhmmm …
1) Joaquin
2) Trennan
3) Wilbur
4) Mikhail
5) Angelino
6) Darrell
7) Zachary
Hope you like one of them.
And if you’re interested in getting some scrapping paper for baby boy, email me your address at kayinanutshell@gmail.com coz I have some “jsut for baby” papers lying around here.
I meant to include my comment on THIS post………….
Woah!!! Congratulations on finding out it’s a boy!!!
As to names, boy, oh boy! Boy names are so hard.
I also always have liked Tristan. I don’t know what it is, maybe Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall? lol.
As to other names, yikes. No suggestions here. I’m sure you will come up with something soon.
By the way, shout back at ya girl!!!
Mrs. Chicky~Dude is right! I’m not known for my sense of directions. I knew you lived in Worcestaaah but for some reason I had “Western Mass” in mind. Hee hee.
Happy Blogversary! Great Post! Names: Tucker, Terrance, Timothy, Trot, Theo, okay I’m done!
Happy blogiversary. Thanks for the link-love! Blushing!
Well, there is always Timothy, which is a simple name but I still like it. Tim.
I guess I am a big fan of simple names because Sam and Jim are also up there for me. I really dislike the modern “en” names - Caden, Tayten, Aiden, etc. They sound so hard and ugly to my ear.
I am sure your new boy will be as cute as your other kids.
I love the name Kincaid.
We were going to name our boy (if we’d ever had one) Jonathan Kincaid.
BTW– tristan sounds great but it means “sadness” and if you’ve ever read “Tristan and Iseult” you’ll know why.
I’ll think on “T” names.
OK here are some “t” names that are at least a little unusual–
Travis
Tybalt (from shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet– he was the prince)
Toby (shakespeare’s Twelth Night)
Titus (shakespear’s Titus Andronicus)
Tucker
Tanner
Troy (oh Helen where are you?)
Topher? kinda reminds me of gopher
tate– the great?
Townsend– a shirt by any other name?
Thatcher
Talbot
i think if you guys name your son any of these names previously listed,,,,,he is going to get beat up!! what horrid names!!! Garrison? Wilber? Townsend? (with some exceptions of course (Tim, Trevor) What are you doing to this poor woman!!!??? She is on a deadline people…let’s get her some good names. Tony,,,now there’s a name. Terrence, Tommy (you think it’s common…name one tommy you know….not so common) I think Trent was mentioned previously.
there was a little boy in my community, who recently passed away. i am mesmerized by this little boys name–Teague Ryan
