Love is being flexible

February 28th, 2007

Love is being able to provide healthy snacks for your children after school, although it can be challenging at times. Don’t get me wrong, they get their “junk” treats too, but not often if I can help it. What does a mother do to cover all bases except to throw everything out to see what will “stick”, I mean consume.

Exhibit A will show you four bowls of fruits which contained blueberries, pears, apples, and mangoes (the papaya was spared since it was not ripe yet). So which one will be consumed by my three adorable rascals?

Crank callers beware

February 25th, 2007

Tyler has been such a great helper around the house doing chores, etc…the past few weeks, that I decided he deserves a one-on-one date with Mommy. For his reward, we went to see “Night at the Museum” on Saturday afternoon.

As I mentioned here how I’m not a sucker fan of buying snacks at the movie theaters. You can purchase the same box of gummi bears or bigger for half the price at a convenient store. All you’d need is a big purse to sneak bring it into the theater, along with your water bottle (which is like $3 freaking 50 cents at the movies PER BOTTLE!) Hey, don’t roll your eyes at me, I bet some of you do the same thing too!!

Telemarketers phone etiquette 101

February 20th, 2007

I’m not exactly Ms. Manners (although I might annoyingly come across as one, alright I’ll admit it!) but when I’m on the phone with someone, I try not to chew and talk at the same time, except for talking to my sisters maybe. On the other hand, I might be picking my nose but who would know that through the phone?!

I received a phone call from a telemarketer for a charity organization this morning (even if you’re on the “Do Not Call List”, non-profit organizations are exempt) and the the guy was chewing something really crunchy that I can hear him loud and clear. He asked for me and I annoyingly told him to finish chewing and call me back later. And he said sheepishly “ok”.

Happy Golden Pig Year

February 18th, 2007

To all my peeps who celebrate the Lunar New Year, may this year of the Golden Pig, bring you and your family health, happiness and prosperity!

According to this one source, “the pig is traditionally associated with wealth and good luck. … The golden pig returns only every 600 years and when it does it symbolizes an especially auspicious year. This is a good year to have babies!” So get going, have babies that is! What are you waiting for, the cut off is April folks (if I did my math correctly).

Valentine’s Day humor

Edited to add:  I almost forgot that today’s the day to pick the winner of the “Name That Baby” contest.  Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, but we have yet to agree on one name.

We would, however, like to crown Tony as the winner for his creativity though.  His suggestion was “Sanders” after Colonel Sanders of KFC, which happens to be my favorite junk food.  Who would have thought that someone else loves KFC more than me, and apparently Tony’s the man.  I think he should be their next spokesperson.  Sorry Tony but this $25 USD Amazon.com gift card won’t buy you a bucket of those delish drumsticks but it’ll buy you some books on the Colonel though.  Enjoy!!
