Sciatica is a four-letter word

Call me crazee, call me insane, call me what you will but I’m one of those women who love to be pregnant! I know, Crazy with a capital C.

Bring on the swollen feet/hands, the excruciating migraines, the ever-expanding waistline, the triple X boobages (well, that’s what it feels like anyway!), skin darkening that prohibits any kind of sleeveless shirts, frequent trips to the bathrooms, not to mention “leakages” due to sneezing, laughing, or coughing, AND obscenely large hemorrhoid that requires daily “tucking”, I’ll take all of the above mentioned any day but you can keep the sciatica for yourself.

I know I’ve mentioned before that I can tolerate pains but this is more of a nuisance than anything. One minute you’re on a go, and the next you have to stop short because of that shooting prickly pain going through your buttock, which forces you to waddle limping while massaging your butt in public to ease it. Good times y’all!

But you know, being pregnant also has its perks. How else can you consume half of this mini-muffin tray (in one sitting) without feeling guilty simply because “the baby made me do it!” I swear.

Did you experience sciatica during your pregnancy? If so, what did you do to relieve it? My OB suggested physical therapy but with three kids, where can I find the time to do that?!

Sounds like all you need to do is hire a personal butt massager. That would be something to see.

I slept in the bathtub because of back and ligament pain and my Braxton hicks was so bad I swear I was in labor for two months–

I remember going to the drugstore late one night with my husband to pick up one of the “safe” drugs while I was pregnant - and sick. The lady at the register, seeing that I was obviously pregnant, started telling me how much she loved being pregnant and that it was the happiest time in her life. On and on.

We barely got a foot outside the store and my husband started asking me why I didn’t love being pregnant. I hated it. But I’d certainly do it again as the end result was more than worth it!

I didn’t have sciatica when I was pregnant. This is actually the first time I’ve even heard the term. Sounds very unpleasant!

I had bouts of sciatica during my pregnancy. It was horrible. How did I deal with it? I cried. A lot. Oh, and I believe there was some writhing, screaming and cursing. Yeah, lots of cursing.

Sorry you have to deal with it too!

Ooooo, I feel for you. No sciatica but I did have a nerve thing that happened in my hip and down my leg. It would strike at the most unexpected times. Ouch. Put your feet up and have another cupcake. The baby needs another one. ;0)

I loved being pregnant too. The worst part for me, by far, was the constipation. New respect for chronic sufferers.

I was paranoid of developing the moon face but thankfully, not too bad.

No sciatica though. Maybe you can get some home exercises to do for home PT?

Ouch, sounds like a real pain. I loved being pregnant both times, and had remarkably uneventful pregnancies. It’s the deliveries that I have the trouble with.

So, I have no advice for you. Sorry to hear that you’re having pain. I love the photo of you and the muffins. Very nice.

Ouch, no fun with sciatica. Muffin consolation makes plenty of sense to me. ;)

I had sciatica. I just got a super soft pillowtop and slept on my side. It helped a little.

I had sciatica, too. It might have had something to do with the 65lbs I gained. I had some acupuncter and it really seemed to help. I love the photo, your belly is very cute!

I, too, had the butt-shooting pain that happens at the most inopportune moments. Only I DID find the time for physical therapy in my third pregnancy because… well, I was unusually wimpy and just couldn’t take it anymore. It did help. I always felt like I was going in for a spa treatment because they did lower back massages and warm compresses and… ahhhh… I get weepy just remembering how pampered I felt. Ya might think about it! ;)

Ah yes, dear old sciatica. I have had it while pregnant. Still get it from time to time now. NOT fun. Hurts like hell. Have you thought about massage therapy? That really helps a lot! Maybe you could go on Saturday when hubby is home to sit with the kids? Think about it Betty, being in pain is NOT good for the baby after all. ;)

Oh, and YUM on the cupcakes. Have one for me too.
