Ode to my sister
Leo Buscaglia’s inspirational quote says it best “Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.”
With deepest gratitude and appreciation, I thank you my relatives and friends for your thoughts and prayers regarding my sister’s condition. I am extremely touched by your kindness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On that fateful day
Your life and our world
Were turned upside down.
We thought you were
On your way to recovery
But now have to face with
The cruel fact and reality
That it will be
A long journey ahead.
Chemotherapy
For the next five to six months
Is what you were told.
But yet you have been
The embodiment of
Beauty and grace
Fortitude and bravery.
My heart aches to think
What you will have to go through.
I wish I can take your place.
I wish I can take the pains away.
I’m blinded by tears
Often these days,
Thinking of the “what ifs”.
But I need to be positive and strong.
Continuing on with this blog
Has become trivial.
I’ve thought of ending it
But I know what you would say
Since you have always been
My number two fan
Right at the very start.
I can be clumsy
When it comes to express
My love for you and others.
These written words allow me
To honestly put forth
My innermost thoughts and feelings.
So my dear sister,
Allow me to say:
My love for you has no boundary.
My respect for you is immense.
Our sisterly bond is eternal.
You have such a strong family. Wishing you all the best.
I’ve heard good things about the Livestrong.org’s information on survivorship. They have suggestions for patients and their families on overcoming the many complications in everyday life when fighting this disease.
Just stopped by after a week away - you, your precious sister and the rest of your family are in my prayers.
Betty, that poem is beautiful, and so clearly expressed. My heart goes out to your sister, you and your whole family.
