Bit of this and that
Edited to add: I added 4 whole pounds to Parker. He only weighs 14 lbs not 18 lbs…that’s the midnight posting for you. And Tony, you skipped right over the part where I asked if you’d want to give up your Wii, either that or you’re just ignoring that request.
Things have returned to “normal” somewhat at our humble abode. What is “normal” anyway when it comes to four kids under the age of six? Inquiring mind wants to know.
My sister is getting her chemo every two weeks and in very good spirits. Thanks to all your prayers once again! Her three children have left to be with their parents after staying at our house (and their aunt’s house next store on the weekend) for about three weeks. They were fun and very helpful to have around since they are older (13,9, and 8 y/o) and our kids play very nicely with them and at the same time argue like siblings do. I really do miss having them around.
Here are the seven sets of feet that brought thunderous noise and laughters at our house the past three weeks.
On Parker news:
My handsome Parker is getting big. I should just call him “humongous Parker”. At his one month check up, he was already at 18 lbs (gained 4 lbs since birth) and 25 inches long (gained 3 inches). He was “off the chart” according to the Pediatrician. And his head is at 83 percentile. “He’s going to be a big boy!” The doc said. At this rate, I’m going to have to feed him solid food by the 3rd month!
I’m still eating for two at this point, I had to remind my hubbie as I squirt the chocolate sauce on my coffee ice cream at 9:30 at night. How the heck am I supposed to get more milk for big P here?! Who said you lose weight faster by nursing should be shot! He’s still bunking up in our room and hasn’t slept through the night yet, still waking up twice a night to be fed. I need toothpicks to hold up my eyelids daily folks.
On Sophia news:
I’m a true believer in the “they’ll go when they’re ready” in the potty department. I’ve tried to potty train Sophia for the longest time but every time I put her on the toilet, she adamantly whines “NOOOO!” and scooted off the toilet leaving me in frustration. So I gave up in trying until she decides it was time…her time.
This past weekend, the hubbie noticed her diaper was dry and asked if she’d like to go potty and she nodded yes, so he turned on the faucet (isn’t that what you do? The sound of water just makes it easier to go doesn’t it?!) and she went, not once but the whole day. Not to mention she went poop the day after with me! I thought I won the lottery or something, high fiving her and the hubbie. I meant to take a picture but my parents might be disgusted so no pictures folks.
She’s ready to go off to school now. Didn’t I tell you? She’s going to daycare three days a week starting in Sept. She needs to be with her peers, really. I might be patient but home schooling is just not my forte.
On other news:
I finally finished the 7th Harry Potter. And let me tell you, it’s the best one yet. J.K. Rowling (do I need to link her and Harry Potter really?) is a genius in my book. I mean who else can get kids AND adults so excited about reading? I’m a bit sad that it is the end and hoping that she might come out with a prequel or something. Now I have to find another series to read…any suggestions my internet friends?
The count down has begun for the first day of school…it’s like 14 days or so. Yes, that’s me doing the dance over here!
The hubbie has decided to look around for the Wii (at my protest), but they are no where to be found. If you or someone you know want to send it our way…we don’t mind charity.
And that’s what’s been happenin’ at our hoodz folks. How are things in your world? Got to get some shuteyes before HP gets up.

Whoa! Big boy…
I hate to say it betty, but that could be a side-effect from all that chicken you ate while pregnant. If he grows a white beard, well, I wouldn’t be surprised!
As for HP, I liked it! The 19 years-later thing was a shocking though
You know Tony…I did notice a five o’clock shadow on Parker once but it was only a milk mustache/beard!
That boy is destined for line-backer fame!
And yay for Sophia being a big girl. And it sounds like no M&M policy had to be instituted. (we still rely on pee-pee candy as a good motivator.)
Glad things are getting back to norm.
Woo hoo on Parker. He definitely sounds like he’s going to be a big boy.
WTG Sophia!!! Good for her!!!
I agree on the being with her peers issue. It’s soo good for them. Nate goes to pre-school.
Good luck finding the Wii. I know they’re hard to find
Seven sets of feet!!!!
God bless you woman!
I am glad to hear your sister is doing well though.
As for reading, my suggestion is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon….. they will keep you occupied for awhile. They are my FAVORITE books of all time and always my #1 reccomendation.
Thanks for the recommendation Jenifer! I’ll check it out soon…hopefully!
That picture of the feet is fabulous!
I think I might be the only human on the planet that knows how to read but has not yet read a single Harry Potter book - nor seen a movie. Sad, eh? Someday …
14 lbs is still a big boy!
Love the feet picture.
Could you tell Sophia to let my son know it’s cool to potty on the toilet?
Wow, what a bruiser! But a very cute bruiser for sure
Haven’t been here for awhile. I’m so sorry about your sister, I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Love the picture of the feet!
Wow! What a big boy you have! Mine were both petite little things, especially Olivia. She’s still 10 percentile! She’s almost 4 1/2 and still wearing 3s! And yeah, for Sophia! High 5 big girl! I agree about when they’re ready. Olivia didn’t until she was almost 4, but when she was ready, that was it! Overnight, she was using the potty and hasn’t had any accidents, and can hold it very well! The other day we were driving home and she had to go bad, and I asked her to hold it. We finally got somewhere she could go, and she said “it’s okay mommy, I “paused” it! Hilarious! Anyway, you sound like you have your hands full! Have a great week! (Gosh this turned into a full on letter! : ) )
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Parker is definitely a cutie pie and a big boy.
Congrats on the potty training thing too. I keep hoping that mine will just decide to do it also. We take 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
Get some rest!!
Hi Betty!
Thanks for your compliment on my pictures! Makes my day! As for art classes, I remember that the charter school had a vendor list which had numerous art, dance, music, etc. instructors that they would authorize. Maybe you could check with a local charter and see if they have a list you can refer to….otherwise, internet? I always find most things I’m looking for there, also, I’m on a lot of homeschool/unschool yahoo groups, and can always ask for referrals. Are you on any groups? Maybe you could ask around! Good luck…..you should put up some of his work on your blog! Let me know when you do! : )
