Love and marriage-a decade later

Today we celebrate our 10th year anniversary! But technically we’ve been together for 16 years. How time flies! And I was told by the hubbie that the 10th year is the year of the diamond. So I guess we’ll see some blings tonight then? Yah right! When you have four kids to raise (read: diapers and college funds), and a mortgage that you’ll be paying until you’re like 99 years old (if you live that long), the only bling you’ll get is the stuff from a Cracker Jack box my friend!

So here’s to my hubbie of 10 years whom I’ve known since Freshman year in college:

• thank you for my four precious adorable children
• thank you for being a helpful partner, a fun father (read: geek alert) and the best of friend
• thank you for putting up with my flaw (you notice it’s singular!)
• thank you for being there for my sister and loving her kids as if they were your own
• thank you for the little things that you do for me, i.e bringing home a bucket of Popeye’s chicken to surprise me since I always wanted to try it (don’t tell the Colonel though!)
• thank you in advance for all the things that you’ll do for me that I might forget to say “thank you”

Even after these many years together, my heart still skip a beat when you’re near or when you walk into a room. And the day will not be complete if I don’t hear from you either via phone calls, emails or IM, as you often say “just checking in!”. Here’s to many more blissful years ahead, my one and only!

PS: Thanks to my sister next store for babysitting our four rugrats tomorrow for our date. It’s the one night where I don’t have to wipe someone else’s mouth, cut someone else’s food, or chew and screw (no, not that kind, dirty minded people!)…oh heavenly!
