Junk, junk and more junk
The kids have been back to school for almost a month now. During their time at school, I have about four hours per week to myself (how splendid huh?!) only if Parker sleeps during those hours . But every time I plant myself in front of the laptop trying to write a post or reading blogs, or just sit and enjoy my breakfast…I feel a bit guilty since there are so many things/projects that needed to be done.
It’s taken me over a week to finish this post, you could say that I was a busy bee all last week. I couldn’t stand the mess any longer, I mean you can only walk over the junk/toys/clothes so many times without tripping, or diverting your eyes. It’s time to do something about it. The boys’ room was like a maze of stuff. The boys share a bed together and I don’t know how they sleep but there are at least 18 stuffed animals on the bed with them (to protect them, they say).
Next was swapping out the summer clothes for fall/winter clothes for all four kids and that equals to five loads of laundry. But I wasn’t finished there, I was on a roll I tell you, you need a hard hat just to open the pantries. I mean there were stuff on top of more stuff.
I don’t know where all these junks came from. It seems like we accumulate junk, junk and more junk every day and times that by four kids and a hubbie equals to A LOT of more junk!
I’m not an expert in organizing things but I watched enough of Mission Organization on HGTV that it’s given me some ideas on how to organize, I think. My favorite product to use is the tray, and clear plastic containers. They are a great tool to store things. The idea to maintain a clutter free room is to not to be afraid to throw things that you don’t need away, or in case of gently-used clothes/toys/books is to donate them to charity, which we’ve done often.
Here are some of the before and after pictures of my finished projects. I was so proud of myself when showing off to the hubbie, he smiled and commented “that’s nice and we’ll see how long it’ll last!”. Nice huh?!

And there’s still the lazy Susie and the basement, aka the “black hole” to clean out, but that’s another day or two. What are your organizing tips and how do you keep your house clutter-free? Help this mother of four out will you before I’m up to my neck in clutter and more junks!!
Here’s an extra picture of my two favorite men helping out with the dishes, still in their pj’s/boxer.

Nice work. I give it a week.
btw, if I would have known that moving animal crackers would automatically refill them, I would have moved ours around a long time ago!
Wow, you’ve been busy. I’m too embarrassed to let everyone see my pantries! hee hee
Jeff examined your pantry waaay too closely.
Very nice! I love Mission Organization too. I wish I had cable so I could watch it. I’ve been tempted to ask my Dad to record some episodes for me though.
Send some of that ambition my way would ya?
Wow! What a difference! Good job. I agree with Jeff, give it a week, lol. (hopefully longer, but I doubt it)
Can I hire you?
Hey! How did you get photos of our pantry!!!
Okay I’m distinctly seeing Oreos in there. Anyone got some milk?
OMG! You have my cabinets, no really! Are yours from Home Depot? Anyway, your snack pantry looks like mine (the before), so you’ve really impressed me, and it motivates me to fix mine! After all, I only have 2 and you have 4, and one of them is a tiny baby!!!! You go girl! Great job!
Thanks for your comment via email the other night.
I think blogger was having issues ’cause I tried to post a comment on someone else’s blogger blog & couldn’t so then i tried on my own & couldn’t either.
Anyways, hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
It’s so nice to get organized. You’d be surprised - some places will stay that way for a long time. Others, well . . . my snack cabinet is always a big mess!
Don’t listen to those naysayers! I cleaned out my pantries last spring and they have stayed clean. You’re doing great!
Wow! I think you should be an organizational consultant. If there isn’t such a thing, then you’ll be the first and make millions!
Wow … you’ve inspired me! Now let’s just hope the inspiration stays with me until I get home and can actually work on a few of a zillion of projects I have waiting for me … I’m not holding my breath.
You do rock! That is awesome. i am avoiding my homework/housework as I type, so this is motiviating me to get busy! I have roughly 107 loads of laundry to do, plus vacuum, and dust. UGH. Let us know how those cupboards look in 4 weeks, won’t you?
