How ’bout them RED SOX

October 9th, 2007

Ever since the hubbie bought himself a big-@ssed us a flat screen TV as his for our 10th year anniversary (I must confess that he did buy me a nice ring as well!) with HD capability, and no payments until 2010 (got to love the American way of living!), watching more TV (read: more couch potatoing), including sports, becomes so much more exciting!

Being the fair-weather fan that I am (no shame in admitting), I couldn’t help but get on the big wagon and cheered for the Red Sox in the postseason games against the Angels. What an awesome game it was when they beat the Angels 3 games in a row putting them in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Indians this Friday.

Project Freedom at Last

October 1st, 2007

My Dad, who has been a Treasurer for one of the local Buddhist temples in Mass. the past 16 years, has brought the following situation to us this past weekend and I’d like to pass it on to you, my generous internet friends, for your help.

After the fall of Saigon in 1975 and takeover by the communist party, many Vietnamese have fled the country (ourselves included), in search of freedom in fear of persecution by the government, mostly by boat (you might have heard of the “boat people” during the ’80s). Some have reached their final destinations safely, some have perished on their way, or some, in this case, have been stranded in the Philippines in limbo and “stateless” for the past 17 years.
