Look who’s 5

I had to dust off my laptop and rack my brain for the password to log into WordPress to write this post. Today is very special since Trent is officially five years old!! Here he was enjoying a party with his classmates and cousins this past weekend at one of those germ-infested indoor playgrounds.

Trent has come a long way from the Early Intervention kid to quite a chatter bug overnight! The things that escape his mouth is pretty amusing. There was this one time where Sophia (2 years his junior) was telling him what to do in a very demanding tone (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, that’s for sure!), and he said to her “you’re not my boss Sophia!!”.

I’m sure you can attest to this sentiment but as parents, we marvel at how our children blossom before our eyes. Each year passes and brings along new surprises. And having four children, we can definitely witness the individuality each one possesses.

Trent is quite a character, he can be extremely independent when it comes to play and yet very dependent on us to help him with little things (which Sophia is more than happy to “I help”, like buttoning his shirts for him). His adeptness at creating things out of Legos never cease to amaze us. Here he is with one of his creations, he loves making robots, and guns (much to my chagrin).

Here’s another robot. He made me take pictures of these so he can show them to daddy when he gets home in case Sophia takes them apart.

As I’ve written before, Trent is my mirror image at this age, stubborn to a fault! My Mom thinks it’s hysterical (yeah, I’m really enjoying the laughs Mom!) because it’s “payback time”, as she would say. When I ask him to pick up his toys, clean his room or eat his veggies…his reply would be “no thanks!”. Well, at least he’s polite, got to give him that much!

We also dubbed him “the playboy” (that’s just between us). I’m not sure what it is (must be his long curly lashes or bad boy image) but when we’re in public, girls seem to “flock” to him. The private joke between my hubbie and I is that Trent’s going to bring home girls for Tyler, who’s shier than he is. We’re already drawing straws to see who’s going to have “the talk” with him when he’s 10.

Trent’s very excited to be in Kindergarten this coming Sept. and that he’ll be on the same bus as Tyler. I still can’t believe he’s already five, before you know it…he’ll be off to high school, college and then off to get married! Now if you’ll excuse me…I need some Kleenex.

Won’t you join me in singing “happy birthday” to Trent! We love you Trent with all our hearts and soul!  We wish you good health and a happy life!
