Lend a helping hand
“I came upon a doctor who appeared in quite poor health. I said ‘There’s nothing that I can do for you that you can’t do for yourself.’ He said ‘Oh yes you can. Just hold my hand. I think that that would help.’ So I sat with him a while and I asked him how he felt. He said ‘I think I’m cured.’”

A good friend of mine brought this to my attention and I’d like to share it with you and ask for your help. She sent me this link with a message that said “I was so touched and couldn’t stop my tears coming out after seeing this girl.”
This is not a scam or someone photoshopped the picture. I know this for a fact because I saw a similar case with another girl (if my memory didn’t fail me, it’s in Haiti, I think) on Discovery channel when I was pregnant with Parker.
As I watch this teenager (I forgot her name unfortunately) with a 16 pound tumor on her face that she had to hold up with two hands to relieve the strain and was confined to her house all her life, I also couldn’t help but shed many tears for her as I selfishly prayed silently that we will be blessed with a healthy child.
The girl I saw on TV traveled to Florida with a help of two selfless nuns to meet with Dr. Jesus Gomez, a brilliant surgeon, who removed the tumor and helped this teenager live somewhat of a normal life. She was able to go out in public and attend school for the first time. It’s just amazing little things we take for granted could bring such joy to some.
Would you join me in “holding Lai Thi Dao’s hand” by donating any amount you can for her surgery to remove this debilitating tumor from her face so that she can have a normal life.
I’m glad to have this blog to use as my soap box, I’m hoping you can spread this message to your families and friends as well. Thank you for your generous help in this matter!! Hope all is well with everyone.
