Look who’s 5

January 28th, 2008

I had to dust off my laptop and rack my brain for the password to log into WordPress to write this post. Today is very special since Trent is officially five years old!! Here he was enjoying a party with his classmates and cousins this past weekend at one of those germ-infested indoor playgrounds.

Trent has come a long way from the Early Intervention kid to quite a chatter bug overnight! The things that escape his mouth is pretty amusing. There was this one time where Sophia (2 years his junior) was telling him what to do in a very demanding tone (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, that’s for sure!), and he said to her “you’re not my boss Sophia!!”.

A dual celebration

September 4th, 2007

One of the best part of being married to someone outside your ethnic group is that you’re introduced to that person’s culture. This weekend, we went to NJ to celebrate Parker’s 100 days with his Korean paternal grandparents.

Although Parker’s not exactly 100 days old yet but we celebrated it anyway since the kids are going back to school and making a trip to NJ would be harder in a few weeks. We did have his Vietnamese 30-day celebration already. Any excuse for a get together with friends and eat is fine with me.

Watch out world…I’m two

We dubbed her our “happy child”. Our little princess Sophia turns two today!!

I still remember vividly the day of my ultrasound, we were going to find out the gender of our third baby. I cried, I actually cried when the technician told us we were having a girl. A girl, my own little princess. After having two healthy, active and rambunctious boys…we were really praying for a little girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love my boys more than my own life, but I think every mother wishes secretly to have a girl of her own. Well, at least for me anyway.

I read a post from Sweatpantsmom recently and could so relate to what she’s brilliantly written, so I’m going to piggy back on it and add my two cents to it, if she doesn’t mind.

Go ahead, read her post, I’ll wait.

Jeopardy music playing…

Ok, you’re back? Sweatpantsmom wrote how she drove her husband crazy trying to get her house in order before a big party, and that it must be because of her Japanese heritage that drove her to be anal about how her house looks. And I’m here to tell her that it must be the Asian thing or just a woman thing to wanting everything to be perfect before visitors set foot in your humble home, especially with the in-laws coming too!

Today is the hubbie’s birthday! Come in, pull up a chair and enjoy a piece of this delicious peach cake with us. But you have to join in and sing the birthday song, otay?!

We have been celebrating each other’s birthdays since we were 21 years old and I’m hoping we will continue to do so in our 90s.
