Antiques Roadshow

October 28th, 2008

I was channel surfing last night, since there was nothing to watch, and stumbled on Antiques Roadshow. I told the hubbie that my new “job”, besides from being a “household engineer”, is to be a “professional shopper” at…yard sale, that is!

Have you ever watched Antiques Roadshow? The premise of the show is this: Professional appraisers, from jewelries to furnitures to the oddities, travel to six different states per year and hold appraisal events at a specific location (determined the year before). Ordinary folks like you and me can bring in your “find” and the appraiser will determine the “actual” worth of the item.

Girls’ day out

March 26th, 2007

We had our girls’ day out yesterday, my closest circle of friends…that would be my Mom and my two sisters. This event was planned a month in advance to prepare the husbands and also the kids that us mommies will be out for a whole day. Not so much for me and my youngest sister, but for my oldest sister. Her kids are very attached to her (even though they’re 8, 9 and 12) since she does everything with them (I’m talking about calling her 3-4 times asking her when she’s coming home and it was only 11:30 into our outing, etc…).

Cosmetics for $1, is it too good to be true

October 5th, 2006

Edited to add: The saying goes “a sucker born every minute”  and that sucker happens to be MOI folks!!!  And the other saying goes “if it’s too good to be true…it probably IS”.  Thanks to Leah for bringing this to light (yeah, my $42 worth of darkness).  Read here for more info.  Well, at least my kids will have some new eye liners to draw with, and maybe my little girl Sophia and nieces will have more eye shadows to put on their dolls.

Do-it-yourself artwork!

April 5th, 2006

If you’ve read my (Kids’ rooms makeover by…Mommy!) entry, you’d know that we love nice things but at reasonable prices (if you have 3 kids under 5, you’d know how expensive things can get). And using a little creativity…we can almost achieve what we want without breaking the bank.

Accessories are very important to complete any room, be it your children’s bedrooms or your own. But the little knick knacks can cost alot of money AND there’s a chance that you’ll get tired of it quickly. Same thing goes for artwork.

Household products that I can’t live without!

March 13th, 2006

If you are a Household Engineer (a.k.a. stay-at-home Mom), there’s no doubt you are the “Jill of all trade” and the “CEO of many home-based businesses”. You could be the CEO of a laundromat one day, a four star chef the next, or the President of a very busy cleaning service.

So there are a bunch of products that I have “endorsed” and can’t live without. I’d like to share some with you, and if you have some products that you swear by in your busy daily life as “CEO’s”, do share them with the rest of us. This is brainstorming at its best!
