Kids’ rooms makeover…by Mommy!

March 7th, 2006

If you have three children under the age of five…you’d know it’s very expensive to clothe and raise them. So any way I can save a buck…you can count me in!

So when the time comes to decorate their rooms, I went searching for bargains and ideas. I get my “inspiration” from Pottery Barn Kids’ catalogs and HGTV (love this channel!!). I love everything they have in the catalogs but everything is WAAAAY too expensive.

Here’s the final shopping list for you first-time parents. I know, it’s pretty overwhelming isn’t it?! Try having three kids, but then again…there would be alot of hand-me downs. And you know how I love that and dual-purpose products. (Baby products 101 & Baby Products-for the home and car).

If you have a shopping list of your own…feel free to send it in to us. Thanks!

Baby products-for the home and car.

March 2nd, 2006

I’ve decided to add some more items to my previous list (Baby products 101) at a suggestion of a good friend, and a mother of two, to help you first-time mothers with your shopping list for your pride and joy.

Having three children under the age of five, being practical and frugal is not a choice but a way of life. So, when I buy any products…they have to serve dual-purpose, if possible.

Some of the baby products in the market place, I think, are very frivalous and impractical. So it’s up to you to decide what works for you and your baby.

Decluttering your house.

February 23rd, 2006

Are you a packrat or a neat freak?  I’d like to think of myself as an organizer but I hate to clean…is that an oxymoron??

I have been meaning to help my sister to declutter her closets and since yesterday was still school vacation…I decided to make a trip to her house with Tyler and Sophia (our five and 11 months old pride and joy, respectively).

The kids can play with their cousins while I help my sister, they are great babysitters and I don’t have to pay them either. ;-)  Cheapo auntie you say??!!  Hey, I’m not charging her for my “expertise” *wink*!

Mommy’s “loser’s cruiser” a.k.a. minivan!

February 12th, 2006

We’d like to think that we are educated consumers in everything we invest our money in.  But we are dead wrong in our choice for a minivan, or as it’s known…a “loser’s cruiser”!

I should say it was I who chose our minivan, the Nissan Quest.  My husband is shaking his head in agreement vigororously.

BK (that’s “before kids”), we were cruising in a nice Audi A6 being “DINKs”, you know “Double Income and No Kids”.  We loved everything about that Audi.  But AK (that’s “after kids”), we had to trade it in for THE loser’s cruiser.  I vowed never to get a minivan no matter how many kids we have.
