Obama’s going to pay for my gas!

November 5th, 2008

I haven’t touched on politics on this blog before since it’s not something I’m comfortable in discussing with anyone besides my hubbie and family, since it can get pretty ugly. But I can’t help it when my cousin sent this to me this morning:

If Peggy thinks that I’m paying for her gas, and her mortgage…then she is more disillusioned than the millions who’ve elected Obama. But then again, I might not have a choice since the Democrats have taken over all THREE branches of government. Where’s the “check and balance” in that?!

Antiques Roadshow

October 28th, 2008

I was channel surfing last night, since there was nothing to watch, and stumbled on Antiques Roadshow. I told the hubbie that my new “job”, besides from being a “household engineer”, is to be a “professional shopper” at…yard sale, that is!

Have you ever watched Antiques Roadshow? The premise of the show is this: Professional appraisers, from jewelries to furnitures to the oddities, travel to six different states per year and hold appraisal events at a specific location (determined the year before). Ordinary folks like you and me can bring in your “find” and the appraiser will determine the “actual” worth of the item.

A Month in Review

October 7th, 2008

I thought having Tyler and Trent back to school, it’d give me some “free” time to dedicate to this blog. But it hasn’t worked out that way. There are so many projects to do around the house and lots of books to read. So I’ve missed a few important dates in September to blog about. Here’s the condensed version of what’s been happening in our neck of the woods.

Birthday:

Tyler blew out 8 candles on 9/4 with his paternal grandparents and cousins in NJ. I can’t believe he’s in 3rd grade and 8 y/o already!! That only means one thing…I’m getting OLDER!!! YIKES!

Deserving Design

August 28th, 2008

I love that show, Deserving Design, on HGTV. Its host, Vern Yip has been one of my favorite designers on TV since “Trading Spaces”. I love his design, elegant and classy. So back in April when Deserving Design had a contest that you can nominate someone who deserves to have a room in their home redecorated, I automatically thought of my oldest sister. I’ve documented her battle with cancer since last year on this blog.

Camping is for the birds

July 28th, 2008

First of, I’d like to wish my oldest sister a big happy 41st-birthday!!!!!!!! She is being released from the hospital on her b-day (again! Same thing last year) after a three-week stay for the stem cell transplant. The procedure went well but she had to endure a lot of pain and infections, not to mention her hair was falling out due to the chemo, so finally she had to shave her hair. But she is such a trooper despite what she has to endure.
